The ancient village of Orta San Giulio, rich in evidence of the past, offers a magical atmosphere with its splendid palaces, baroque churches and its characteristic streets in the historic center; on the main square also called “sitting room square” is the Broletto (XV century).

In front of the square stands the Island of San Giulio whose artistic and natural beauty make it unique in its kind, on the island stands the Basilica of San Giulio, in Romanesque style, with important frescoes and the medieval ambo in black marble of Oira.

Buccione Tower and
Madonna del Sasso

Fortified tower of considerable historical-architectural value, the last bastion of a castle mentioned in the documents of the ‘200 and one of the best panoramic points of the lake.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso, in Baroque style, stands on a granite spur on the western side of Lake Orta, from which you can enjoy the view of the whole lake, the Mottarone and the Alps.
